About Me
My name is Brooke Aguiar, and I am a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of California. I have successfully worked alongside diverse populations with an overall goal to consistently provide culturally sensitive and appropriate care to each client no matter their background.
While I work with a variety of presenting issues, I have a particular interest in working with young adults and adults, helping them understand and cope with identity crises, life transitions, work stress, grief, trauma, or any personal or familial health diagnoses. I use compassion and mindfulness as core elements in my approach in order to promote an improved quality of life. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other evidence based approaches and incorporate that background in my clinical practice. However, it is my personal belief that all clients are unique and need individualized approaches best suited to their needs, so I work alongside each client to create a treatment plan that is meaningful, realistic, and appropriate for them.
Educationally, I hold a BA in Psychology and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. When not working as a counselor, I enjoy reading, discovering the diverse food options in the Bay Area, hiking, traveling, and watching movies with my husband, dog, family, and friends.
