FAQs
What is the next step in order to get started?
If you are interested in learning more about therapy and how I can help you, I invite you to schedule a free 20-minute phone consultation with me. From there, we can decide if we are a good fit for working together. Additional next steps will be determined at that time.
What are your fees?
My standard fee for a 50-minute telehealth session is $180. If there is a need for a shorter or longer session, the fee will be prorated according to the time spent in session to ensure that you are only charged for the time you receive therapy. The same applies for phone check-ins that last longer than 10 minutes, not including the free initial phone consultation. You will only be charged for the time spent on the phone beyond the initial 10 minutes.
Do you take insurance?
At this time I am not paneled with any insurance companies, so I require full out-of-pocket fees paid at each session. That being said, I am able to provide “Superbills”, weekly or monthly, that you can then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. While I cannot guarantee the amount that will be reimbursed, many insurance companies do provide some form of reimbursement. I recommend reaching out to your insurance company prior to starting therapy with me to confirm your policy and reimbursement rates.
These questions may be helpful to ask your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:
Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
Am I covered for seeing an out-of-network mental health provider?
Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have/it will reimburse? If so, what is the limit?
Do I need written approval from my primary care physician or other medical provider in order for services to be covered?
Do you offer in-person counseling sessions?
While I do not offer in-person counseling sessions at this time, I am happy to provide HIPAA compliant telehealth services to clients. If you are seeking in-person services or if I determine that in-person services would better meet your needs, I am happy to provide you with at least three referrals for clinicians who have the necessary skills and background. I am committed to helping you find the best support and care for your mental health needs.
Do I need to complete anything prior to my first full length session?
Prior to your first full-length session, you will receive an invitation to your personalized client portal where you will find important forms to review and sign. It is important that you complete these forms before your first session to ensure that we can make the most of our time together. If you have any questions or concerns about these forms, we can discuss them during your free initial phone consultation.
What should I expect the first session to be like?
The first few sessions will be spent getting to know one another. I actively attempt to provide a welcoming environment where you feel seen, heard, and respected. We will also begin to assess, determine, and collaborate on a treatment plan that will serve you and your needs best. Every client is different and requires a different approach, so I encourage you to speak up if there is anything specific you are wanting or needing from a session.
How long are therapy sessions?
I believe that therapy should be tailored to the unique needs of each individual, so session length can vary depending on what works best for you and your presenting concerns. While most sessions are 50 minutes, we can also schedule shorter or longer sessions as needed.
How long will therapy take for me?
The length of therapy depends on several factors, including your specific needs and goals, the severity and complexity of your presenting concerns, and your progress in treatment. While it is difficult to determine the exact number of sessions you will need, we will regularly discuss your progress and treatment goals to determine when it may be appropriate to end therapy. My goal is to work collaboratively with you to help you achieve your desired outcomes in a timely and effective manner.
